Jack Grimaldi, un agente che fino a questo momento ha condotto un'onesta carriera, decide di "vendersi" come informatore a un potente boss mafioso. Né sua moglie né la sua amante sanno dei suoi illeciti e cospicui guadagni e, meno ancora, che Jack si è innamorato della donna del boss (che questi, peraltro, vuole eliminare) e tale infatuazione è alla base della sua decisione di "passare" al nemico.
