Dramma in cadenze leggere di commedia: la summa di Allen di cui è per molti critici e spettatori il film preferito, quello che resterà. Agli Oscar, infatti, non fu nemmeno nominato. 1° film di Allen in bianconero e anamorfico. L'autore non ne era soddisfatto: troppo statico. 1° film con Susan E. Morse al montaggio.
