Laura, detta "Little Voice", è un'adolescente timida ai limiti dell'autismo. Vive in un quartiere proletario di Scarborough insieme a una madre beona e assatanata. Per dialogare con il fantasma del padre, ne ascolta i vecchi dischi di Judy Garland, Marilyn o Shirley Bassey, e li reinterpreta alla perfezione.
