Chi ha ucciso il ricco industriale di Manhattan e la moglie? Il magnate e la consorte sono stati trovati davanti al loro grattacielo con la gola mozzata. Opera di terroristi, dice il capo della omicidi. Ma un detective, che segue il caso, non è affatto convinto. Le morti, come molte altre accadute nella stessa zona, sembrano opera di bestie, non di uomini, forse di lupi... Ma come è possibile che ci siano i lupi a Manhattan? Indagando il poliziotto è costretto a prendere atto dell'incredibile realtà: tra i grattacieli si annidano ancora i discendenti delle belve che abitavano l'isola prima che arrivassero gli uomini.
