Durante una colonscopia, un dentista, il dottor Bertram Pincus, perde conoscenza e viene dichiarato morto per circa sette minuti. Dopo questa spaventosa esperienza scopre di avere la capacità di parlare con gli spiriti dei defunti e tutti sembrano volere qualcosa da lui. In particolare, Frank Herlihy lo tormenta affinché l'uomo faccia di tutto per impedire l'imminente matrimonio della sua vedova Gwen.
